South America offers stunning scenery, beautiful beaches and deep culture. Rio de Janeiro hosts an annual Carnaval (end of Feb./beginning of March) that is a 4 day party. This is where you will find the famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Sugar Loaf mountain with the statue of Christ is a famous tourist attraction. Brazil offers many fine beaches.

The lush Amazon jungle merits it's own section and many outfits specialize in Amazon tours which is the best way to see this dense jungle-scape.

Since you are travelling in the Southern Hemisphere, the best time to travel is actually September through November. Summer season there is December through March and Winter is June through September; usually with more rain.

Kids will love soaking up the cultural highlights, beautiful beaches and adventurous outings that South America offers. Maybe you will even see a Penguin or two in Southern Argentina or on the Falkland Islands.
